JOIN THE FRIENDS OF SAN JOSE FAMILY CAMP
Dear Friends,
You
have indicated that you are interested in participating in our work weekends. Work weekends
are a fun and rewarding way for the whole family to enjoy Family Camp and spend
a weekend working and playing with a bunch of really nice people like yourselves.
We want you to know how important your participation is to the continued success
and enjoyment of Family Camp and how much we are looking to working together
with you in the coming 2009 year. Your contributions are a vital part of the Friends' support
of San Jose Family Camp.
The major work parties for 2009 are on two weekends, one being mid May and the second one the first week in June. Work weekends for 2009, as of yet, have not been scheduled but will follow a similar schedule as last year and posted here.
Check in time is from noon Friday (lunch is not served). Dinner will be served
from 6:30 to 9:30 to accommodate the late arrivals. We will work all day Saturday
and in the morning on Sunday. The weekend ends with lunch on Sunday.
The cost is $10.00 per person, per weekend (a maximum of $ 40.00 per family
per weekend). This includes dinner on Friday, breakfast, lunch, and dinner on
Saturday, and Sunday breakfast and lunch. Membership in the Friends of Family Camp is required for participation in the work parties. If you haven’t, as yet, paid your 2009 dues, please include the $10.00 Family membership fee with your sign up form.
Childcare will be available for children 2-8 (out of diapers) while their
parents are working. If you would like to volunteer for a 4-hour childcare shift,
please indicate that on your form. Minimum age for childcare helpers is 13.
Pack much as you would for camp in the summer. However, the weather is
unpredictable so be prepared for cold nights and warm, cool or cold days. Once
in a while it rains - but the show goes on. Just watch the weather forecast
and bring your boots, poncho, or whatever. Also, the store will be open but
stocked only with soft drinks, candy and toiletry items (you know, the essentials).
We will attempt to contact everyone prior to the work party and let you know
what your assignment is going to be. We try to assign people to the work
areas they request or indicate an interest in. This is not always possible,
but most of the time it works out. With this understanding, we ask you to bring
the tools you think you will be using based on our request. If you have special
skills and/or equipment please let us know. Either call or make a note on the
sign up form.
The sign up form can be downloaded here.
Unfortunately we are not accepting online submissions at this time. Please
right-click and select Save to download the form to your system, print it
out, fill it out clearly and completely and return it as soon as soon as possible
so we can start on the work assignments and food planning. Returning your form
right away also makes it likely that you will get the tent of your choice.
Mail your form, along with your check, made payable to Friends
of San Jose Family Camp (or FSJFC), and a stamped, self-addressed envelope.
We will send your confirmation as soon as possible. The confirmation will include
a tent assignment made on a first received basis. Please understand that
it won't be possible to give everyone their first choice, so be sure to fill
out all three choices for tents and/or tent areas. If families want neighboring
tents, note that on each family's form, but don't ask us to save a tent for
friends as that wouldn't be fair to those who sent in their forms. And if you
are willing to share space with another family or individual please let us know.
Be sure to check in at the office as soon as you arrive. If you will
be arriving later than 10:00 P.M. on Friday or early Saturday morning please
note it on your form, or let us know by calling Ray Pirlot at 408 292-4257
by Thursday prior to the weekend you are to arrive or call Ray at the camp on
Friday at 209-962-7277. If anyone in your party must cancel or you wish to add
another person, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can plan accordingly.
We need an accurate list for work assignments.
If you have any questions in the meantime, feel free to call Ray at 408-292-4257.
